These vehicles aren’t all that old. But take a look at this shit right here.

Kinja'd!!!

Pretty noticeable rust already on the hatch. My buddy has a 2013 Patriot. Hopefully it doesn’t suffer the same problem.

Though I will admit Chrysler vehicles do seem to have a rust issue. My Durangos are proof of that.

I live in Nova Scotia in Canada - between the salt water and the salty winter roads, we have a lot of corrosion causes, but I’ve actually seen very few Patriots with any rust here...?

Isn’t that just a way of life in the north? Roll with rust.

Won’t stop it. Chryslers rust no matter the environment

It’s a Patriot. The best thing for it to happen is to rust away quickly.

Similar thing happened to my Liberty, but the rust was contained underneath it. Still looked like crap, and started causing little nagging issues, like the e-brake cabling getting borked.

I don’t think there’s any fix beyond just selling it and getting a new one, unfortunately.

Normally yes. But my car, at 15 years old, and almost 257,000 miles, has much less rust than that. It’s got a few spots, and some bubbling, but rust is quite minimal on it surprisingly. It’s quite shocking, considering the car has been local its whole life.

Mazdas are bad for rust around here too, especially around the wheel arches. Luckily my mom’s NB Miata has no rust to speak of. It’s been well maintained.

Reminds me of an early seventh generation (it’s either a 2008 or 2009) Chevrolet Malibu I see a lot that’s got some serious rust going on along the bottom of the left passenger’s door.

The Patriot pictured is a 2009. Wow.

I think that’s a Jeep Trademark. Rust early and often. Or something like that..

A buddy bought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee brand new and the tailgate was rusting like that by 2002.

maybe it’s had some down to the metal chip left un-touched up, they can start to rust pretty quickly, especially if the car isn’t waxed often (ever in a lot of cases) or it’s had a dodgy paint job after a rear end shunt?

I guess the italians are forgetting that what killed the reputation of other Italian brands (Lancia/Fiat) was rust. Next will be Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Alfa

There was also the other article on how the door hinges of the Dodge Sprinters from 2012 to now were rusting already as well. C’mon - other manufacturers already produce acceptable materials and paint, so lets get with the rest.
